Counseling
Prairie Center offers counseling services to adult, adolescent, and child survivors, non-offending family members, and friends.
As a survivor, you may find it difficult talking about your traumatic experience. We are aware of your emotional concerns and will offer you compassion and support. There is no pressure on you. Ultimately, you determine the direction and length of counseling. We encourage you to meet at least one time with a counselor so you can have a better understanding of how we can assist you.
At Prairie Center, your confidentiality is assured. Staff at Prairie Center will not disclose any confidential information without your written consent, except in cases where there is a clear risk of serious bodily harm to you or another person. Staff are bound by law to report child abuse or elder abuse.

Sexual Assault

Child Counseling Through counseling, children learn to express and understand their feelings. Child counseling goals include building self-esteem, strengthening boundaries and trust, developing healthy coping skills, and teaching personal safety. Counseling sessions involve the use of expressive activities such as play therapy, puppets, sand tray, story telling, and art to facilitate the healing process. |
