Welcome to Prairie Center
Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault is a not-for-profit agency that provides comprehensive sexual assault services to sexual assault and sexual abuse victims (survivors), their families, and their friends.

Mission Statement
The Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault has a two-fold purpose: to alleviate the suffering of sexual assault victims and to prevent sexual violence. We assist men, women, children and their families through the trauma of sexual violence by providing emergency room response, medical advocacy and counseling. Prairie Center uses the power of public education to change community attitudes about the causes and consequences of sexual violence and advocates for victim rights in the law enforcement and criminal justice systems. Our prevention education programs focus on reducing the likelihood of sexual victimization, particularly in the lives of children and adolescents.

Service Fees

We believe that financial concerns should not deter anyone from seeking help. All our services are provided free of charge or at a nominal cost based on a sliding fee scale.

Grants from the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Illinois Attorney General, United Way of Central Illinois, United Way of Christian County, Prairieland United Way, and Sangamon County Community Foundation allow us to help survivors in 11 Illinois counties. Private contributions and fundraising efforts also support the work of Prairie Center.
